Hi everyone!
I have found something funny which I am sure you will all enjoy visiting, even if just briefly. If you need a break from your usual structured and serious grammar practice, here is something a little different which will hopefully make you smile – it may either help you learn something new, or you may want to use it as a new tool for revision.
Learn English through comics! I have found some fun online resources which focus on the ‘comics’ format to teach important English grammar points. Whether you are a comic fan or not, comics can be a great way to learn and practise English. Did you enjoy reading comics as a child? Do you still read comics today? Whether you are young or old, the great thing about comics, as opposed to cartoons, is that you can use your imagination – the drawings add to the story telling and you still have the chance to play the story out in your head. The bonus about the English Grammar comics which I am about to introduce you to is that they have not simply been written as a form of entertainment, their purpose is to teach you something as well!
Meet Grammar Man…
He is a superhero who not only protects the public by reducing crime and restoring the peace, but he solves English grammar problems as well. How good does that sound!
Want to know more? Visit the Grammar Man website or read some of his adventures by visiting the following links:
–Introducing Grammar Man
–Uncle Uncountable
–Samy Colon
–Rotten Apple and Bad Egg
As you can see, each of the above comics follow the typical comic format, so you can practise your reading skills, but there is also the added bonus that you can click on the play button (top right of comic) to listen to the comic being read, which means you can practise your listening skills as well. In addition, each comic also comes in the form of a short film so that you watch and enjoy each story, and there is also the option to download the comic as a PDF file.
So, who said grammar was boring? Definitely not anyone who knows Grammar Man! Give this website a try and let me know what you think. If you visit it and don’t like it, then you haven’t lost anything and at least you have given Grammar Man a try. If you visit it and like what you see, then I hope that you enjoy a different way of learning and practising grammar and that you enjoy a break from the usual repetitive grammar practice.
Have a great day – and thank you for reading today’s blog post!
:) Nicole
